Who Pays For Workers’ Lunch

There is a saying, an army marches on its stomach. It is an idiom that means soldiers, workers, or anyone else expected to perform a task cannot function effectively unless they are well fed. Having understood that no soldier can march on an empty stomach, there is a deliberate policy to provide food at work. It is an expense the company is willing to pay. There are many variations that companies take when it comes to workers’ food at work. The first option is that workers find there own food at lunch time. The other option is that the company cuts from the worker’s pay to cushion the expenses for lunch. Here, the preferred option is that the company pays for workers’ lunch.

Firstly, when life’s meaning is stripped to bare metal, people work so they can eat. Tech companies like Google and Facebook do provide free food to its workers. According to Forbes the reasons include reducing the number of people going out to lunch that is less disruptive to the day; Encouraging people to stay late for work; Improving team cohesion and morale; and encouraging company loyalty. A feeling of being treated well. These reasons could not be more clearer for any company to ignore. However this side of the world people literally work for food, rent and beer. They are left with little to save or improve their lives. It seemed ideal to provide food at work for the workers for kumushi.

Besides the reasons from tech giants, even if people where given daily lunch allowance, some would not use it for lunch. This is because different people have different needs and priorities. For example one would rather spend that lunch allowance at home to feed his entire family. A noble thing, but he would want to save and feed off his friends at work. That would create divisions among workers. Between the haves and the have nots. A divided house or company can not stand. Which is why providing food for workers would avoid all those issues.

Some of the workers have been heard saying that they had not had supper the previous night. But did have opaque beer brewed around the villages. The following morning they would appear to be shaking due to lack of energy. Since breakfast is not served most of the times, the workers therefore prefer preparing lunch in the morning around 10 hours. And some of the times this same lunch is prepared before they even start working. Then in the afternoon they make suggestion of preparing another meal. Sometimes it is granted and other times not. However it has been observed that after eating, the workers give an impression of lazing around. Also indicating the desire to knock off.
